Quality and consistency

Since 1992, CooperSurgical has manufactured consistently high-quality micropipettes for your IVF clinic. At our manufacturing facility we have a focus on quality assurance at every step.

  • 100% visual inspection for dimensional tolerances and cleanliness at all steps of production
  • Cleaning, heating, and sonication of borosilicate glass capillaries
  • Our micropipettes are produced in a cleanroom environment
  • Regular bioburden testing of the cleanroom
  • Air filters to remove VOCs, bacteria, and particles from the air in the manufacturing cleanroom
  • Operators wear cleanroom apparel
  • Latest technology in manufacturing lab

Sterilization and IVF quality control methods

CooperSurgical performs rigorous quality control measures to ensure the safety and efficacy of the micropipettes used in IVF.

  • All our micropipettes are sterilized by gamma irradiation to a Sterilization Assurance Level (SAL) of 10^-6
  • A sample of each batch is sent for Mouse Embryo Assay (MEA) testing and Limulus amoebocyte lysate (LAL) toxicological bioassay to detect toxicity and suboptimal compounds for embryo development
  • A MEA is conducted in accordance with FDA Industry Guidance. (8) >80% 1-cell blastocyst development rate in 96 hours. LAL <20 Endotoxin Units (EU)/device
  • Batch certificates are available online which enables easier record keeping for quality and regulatory assurance

TPC and ORIGIO micropipettes are designed differently. TPC ICSI micropipettes have a longer and parallel taper, while ORIGIO ICSI micropipettes are more conically shaped. TPC ICSI micropipettes will therefore feel more flexible and bendable, while ORIGIO ICSI micropipettes feel more rigid. In general, TPC ICSI micropipettes have a longer bevel and shorter spike, while ORIGIO ICSI micropipettes have a shorter bevel and a longer spike.

When it comes to the holding micropipettes, TPC has a squarer surface while ORIGIO has a more rounded shape.

In addition, all our ORIGIO micropipettes are packaged in a transparent compact box of 10 and all our TPC micropipettes are packaged in a recyclable cardboard box of 10. Both lines are individually packaged and color-coded.

When choosing micropipettes for In Vitro Fertilization (IVF), we recommend that you pay specific attention to:

  • Materials: IVF-compatible materials ensure you do not introduce any contaminants or toxins into the IVF process
  • Ease of handling and operation: Consider ergonomic designs that reduce the risk of operator fatigue or error

IVF-certified plastics are specifically designed and tested to be safe for use in medical procedures, including IVF treatments. These plastics undergo rigorous testing to ensure that they are free from toxic substances and contaminants that could potentially harm embryos or compromise the success of the IVF procedure
