ORIGIO® Gradients and ORIGIO® Sperm Wash

Media for sperm preparation with innovative formulation, drawing on the latest scientific knowledge of sperm function. Mimicking natural conditions, supporting sperm motility and functions,1-8protecting spermatozoa from oxidative damage9-12 and osmotic stress during preparation.13-14

ORIGIO® Gradients – media for the efficient separation of motile spermatozoa from the ejaculate by the density gradient method. Ready-to-use ORIGIO® Gradient 40/80 kits, designed to minimize osmotic stress during preparation, as well as classical 90% and 100% ORIGIO® Gradient solutions for custom-made gradients after dilution with ORIGIO® Sperm Wash.

ORIGIO® Sperm Wash – media for washing of spermatozoa, the isolation of motile viable spermatozoa by swim-up method, dilution of ORIGIO® Gradients, and holding spermatozoa for IUI procedures. Designed to support sperm motility and physiologic functions.

Key Features

ORIGIO Gradients and ORIGIO Sperm Wash have a unique combination of advantages:

  • High pH of 8.0-8.5 to mimic in vivo physiological conditions and stimulate higher motility1,2,5
  • High concentration of bicarbonate to support optimal sperm function1-4
  • 3 antioxidants (EDTA, taurine, citrate) added to minimize formation of reactive oxygen species and protect spermatozoa from oxidative damage9-12
  • Fully HEPES buffered to use outside a CO2 controlled environment. Requires no pre-equilibration.
  • Shelf life after opening: 28 days

ORIGIO® Gradient 40/80 specifically:

  • Tailored osmolality, differentiated through layers to minimize osmotic stress to spermatozoa13,14

ORIGIO® Sperm Wash specifically:

  • High concentration of albumin to support sperm physiology and protect from oxidative stress6
  • Can be used for IUI, IVF, and ICSI
